// The World On A String//
It seems as if everyone is given the notion that you can be anything you want to be. Proper parents would tell you that you can be whatever you want to be as long as it makes you happy will be suitable for them. Nay, it is what they would expect. It’s only understandable for them to wish a life of prosperity for you. Financial security is, above all else, the most desired wish that all Americans share. Well, that is what we have succumb to. The American dream is in fact best interpreted by the very people we are trying to keep away from our border. Many forms of art depicting our nation were best realized in their entirety by immigrants. We should take a lesson from them to always remain hungry. Now, I’m doing a disservice to the person that stated a quote that can best summarize this post by not remembering his name; nevertheless, he said, “If your in America, and your not a millionaire, it’s your fault.” If anyone reading this knows who that is, please tell me. He deserves the credit for such a relevant quote. Truer words were never spoken and guess who it came from? If you guessed immigrant, circle gets the square. The American dream is alive and well in those that reside in other countries, but why not in America itself? The problem is with myself and others is that we get comfortable. I urge everyone to never stay comfortable. Understand that life can and should be a quest to get the the next stage. Always have a next stage. Never stay content because you will never advance in your craft and as a person. I write this not only for anyone reading this but more so to myself. I personally know the warm full embracing arms of comfort and content; however, I know I will never be happy doing the same thing. I may never be happy, but I know I will never regret anything if I take a leap forward and take risks. Only then will I either reap the benefits or learn from my mistakes. In the end, I know for a fact that I’ve done something not many Americans have done, understand what it is truly like to be an “American.”
